20th Century Fox will turn Roger Hargreaves's Mr. Men books into an animated feature film, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Night At The Museum director Shawn Levy will produce the movie through his 21 Laps Entertainment company. No writer or director has been hired to take on the project.

The 48 Mr. Men books all centre around characters with different traits, including Mr. Happy, Mr. Messy, Mr. Nosey and Mr. Grumpy. Hargreaves's books have sold more than 100 million copies across 28 countries.

Four animated series of Mr. Men have been produced. The first aired in 1975 on the BBC, while a recent 2006 series - The Mr. Men Show - was broadcast on Cartoon Network in the US and Channel Five's Milkshake! in the UK.
