According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rosenberg is close to signing a deal with Summit to help bring back the fantasy franchise about immortal swordsmen from the Scottish highlands.
Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin is directing the project.
Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man) penned the initial draft of the script.
The original 1986 Highlander film starred Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert. It launched four sequels and three TV show spinoffs.
