Speaking to ET Canada, Steinfeld, who made her big screen debut in the movie, said that she could not have asked for a better introduction to the film industry.
She explained: "I was just so wrapped up in the moment and I was having so much fun and working with Matt [Damon] and Jeff [Bridges] and Josh [Brolin], they were just so much fun to be around and they were always encouraging me that I never had any kind of thought that I wasn't having fun, or was uncomfortable."
Steinfeld also praised her co-stars for helping her improve her acting skills throughout True Grit's production.
"I give a lot to credit to them for really helping me push through the whole process," she said.
The 14-year-old received a 'Best Supporting Actress' Oscar nomination for her portrayal of orphan Mattie Ross in True Grit, which is based on a novel by Charles Portis.
The 2011 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 27 2011 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
