Speaking to MTV, the producer explained that licensing issues are delaying the DC Comics adaptation.
"I don't know, there are rights issues with Swamp Thing," he said. "I'm not sure if we could clear that up but we're always working on something. We like the idea of making a 3D version of that story, but it's not something we can do right now."
Silver also expressed uncertainty about another DC film project, Sgt. Rock, which was on the verge of entering production with Guy Ritchie at the helm in 2008. I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence has since been linked with the movie.
"We were driving down the road at one point, and then not," he added. "Look, these things are there, and sometimes they come about, and sometimes they don't, but it’s hard to talk about them until they're real movies."
Swamp Thing was previously adapted for cinema in 1982 under the direction of Wes Craven. A low-budget sequel, The Return Of Swamp Thing, was released in 1989.
