The director of Southland Tales is reportedly collaborating with friend and fellow helmer Eli Roth on getting the funds for Corpus Christi, Variety reports.
According to the site, the film will centre on the relationship between a "mentally challenged" Iraq war veteran and a businessman and aspiring politician.
It is not yet known who Kelly plans to cast in his fourth film, which will follow the mixed box office success of Donnie Darko and The Box.
Roth will produce the film with Kelly under the latter's Darko Entertainment banner.
