The actress received her first of four Oscar nominations in 1995 for her performance in The Madness of King George and won the 'Best Actress' award more than a decade later for The Queen.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Mirren touted the fanfare of her Oscar win as incomparable to any of life's great pleasures.
"It is one of the most amazing experiences of one's life," she said. "There really is nothing like it."
The star also cautioned this year's nominees that the afterglow of the Oscar ceremony wears off rather quickly.
"You're in the most amazing…multi-coloured bubble. Then the night after the Oscars, the bubble bursts and you go back to reality," Mirren joked.
The 2011 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday February 27, 2011 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
