The screenwriter was accepting the Oscar for 'Best Original Screenplay' for his work on The King's Speech.
Seidler said: "I'd like to thank Her Majesty the Queen for not putting me in the Tower of London for using the Melissa Leo f-word."
Leo accidentally swore when accepting the Oscar for 'Best Supporting Actress' earlier in the evening.
The 73-year-old is the oldest recipient of the 'Best Original Screenplay' award to date, and he added that he hoped his record would be broken "quickly and often".
Seidler, who himself had speech therapy for a stutter as a teenager, added: "I accept this award on behalf of all the stutterers in the world. We have a voice, we have been heard thanks to you, the Academy."
