The 'Best Supporting Actor' winner approached the breakthrough 14-year old star, whom he introduced to his wife, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bale's The Fighter co-star Mark Wahlberg also met the young actress and agreed to pose for a few pictures.
Steinfeld said before the bash: "I'm having a great time. I'm going to a Vanity Fair party tonight. Everyone says it's the best party."
She lost out for 'Best Supporting Actress' to Melissa Leo, who played Bale and Wahlberg's mother in the gritty boxing film.
