Published Tuesday, Mar 1 2011, 14:21 GMT | By Simon Reynolds

The red carpet event will see the Potter cast and filmmakers arrive at Trafalgar Square before heading along to Leicester Square's cinemas to watch the first showing of Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Special areas will be reserved within Trafalgar Square for fans and competition winners from around the globe. It will mark the first time the London landmark has hosted a movie premiere.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said of the event: "For the last decade we've been gripped by the on-screen battle between Harry Potter and his arch enemy Lord Voldemort and this is one of the most eagerly awaited films in history.
"As befits a great British triumph, I can think of no better venue than the iconic surroundings of Trafalgar Square in which to stage the most spectacular of send offs for this dramatic finale."
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, will open in UK and US cinemas on July 15.
