According to Film Music Reporter, Alan Silvestri will provide the soundtrack to the comic book adaptation.
Best known for his Back To The Future compositions, Silvestri has more than 100 film credits to his name. The industry veteran previously worked on comic-themed material in 1995, providing the score to Judge Dredd.
It was previously reported that Oscar-nominated musician Alan Menken is also involved in soundtrack. He is thought to have written an original song for the film.
Directed by Joe Johnston, Captain America: The First Avenger opens in US theatres on July 22 and in the UK on July 29.
