James Cameron's upcoming sequel to the hit 2009 film Avatar will mostly take place underwater, Rodriguez told The AP.
The actress, who played Trudy Chacon in the original, admitted that she does not yet know if she would be part of the follow-up.
However, Rodriguez said that she hopes Cameron at least invites her to the set to watch the filming.
The Avatar sequel is expected to arrive in 2014.
Rodriguez will next be seen in action thriller Battle: Los Angeles, opening next Friday in US cinemas.
