The story, set in 2027, focuses on a man who travels back in time to visit Earth before it became uninhabitable in an attempt to change the past.
Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, The Kite Runner) is tipped to direct the film.
Brian Grazer (24, Friday Night Lights), Brad Simpson and Zak Kadison will produce the project, with Eric Lieb serving as executive producer.
