According to the Los Angeles Times, producer Millennium Films and Stallone have been meeting with new directors to helm the action sequel.
David Agosto and Ken Kaufman will pen The Expendables 2, replacing original screenwriters Stallone and David Callaham.
Stallone, who starred in and directed last summer's Expendables, is expected to reprise his role as Barney Ross in the follow-up.
Discussing the sequel earlier in the year, the 64-year-old said that he was juggling several different story ideas for the movie.
"You have about five different scenarios, and you try to figure out which one will work the best: what area, the kind of stunts, and most important, what is the heart of the film?" he said.
