The actor is taking on the role of an officer in the film helmed by Jonathan Liebesman.
In an interview with Ain't It Cool, he said: "I said [to Liebesman], 'I'm not interested in making an alien movie, I'm interested in making a war movie.'
"He showed me his idea of what he wanted to do - he just got clips of marines off of YouTube and he says 'This is what I want this movie to look like' - and swear to God, that's what this movie looks like and it's so exciting."
Battle: Los Angeles hits UK cinemas on March 11.
