According to THR, McCormack will star in Barricade, a supernatural thriller about a father and widower who takes his children away on holiday to a secluded log cabin and finds himself being attacked by mysterious forces.
The film, from Fido director Andrew Currie, is the the first project from WWE Films not to star one of the company's wrestlers in the lead role.
Previous films by the studio include See No Evil, which starred Kane, and The Marine, which starred John Cena.
Barricade is due to begin filming in Vancouver later this month.
