'Brokeback' actor sues, claiming underpayment

Randy Quaid has claimed he was underpaid for his role in Brokeback Mountain.
The Kingpin actor says the film was "misrepresented" to him as low-budget, and as such he was not paid well enough. According to Variety, Quaid is suing for £5.7m, although he has not revealed what he was actually paid.
A legal action filed in Los Angeles on Thursday explains: "Randy Quaid is an instantly recognisable household name and much-admired actor on the world's stage with a worldwide box office total of nearly $2 billion (£1.1bn).
"Defendants were engaging in a 'movie laundering' scheme designed to obtain the services of talent... for a picture that, in reality, had studio backing and would be exploited using traditional studio marketing and distribution techniques."
The film has made almost £92m worldwide and won three Oscars earlier this month.
