The film is about a young Palestinian girl, played by Slumdog Millionaire star Frieda Pinto, growing up in the aftermath of the first Israel-Palestine war.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Weinstein said: "If [critics] see the movie, they'll see something that's a pathway to peace and a beautiful coming-of-age story.
"The Middle East is a hotbed, [and] that doesn't have to be. It's [been] too long, and maybe when the public takes the issues it becomes something."
Miral was screened at a United Nations meeting despite calls from the American Jewish Committee for the organisation to withdraw its sponsorship of the film.
