The Toy Story star has been attached to the adaptation of the memoir by Captain Richard Phillips, who offered himself hostage in place of the rest of his crew on the cargo ship Maersk Alabama.
Phillips was held for three days before Navy SEALS arrived, leading to an armed battle with the pirates.
The production team behind The Social Network are working on the adaptation, which was optioned by Sony Pictures, says Deadline.
