Speaking to Big Fanboy, the BAFTA-winning filmmaker admitted that he would like to make a "tongue-in-cheek" black comedy version of Michael Powell's 1960 thriller.
"I talked to Simon a little bit about something," Jones said. "There's this crazy, really, really dark film from the '60s called Peeping Tom. I was thinking Simon Pegg doing a real tongue-in-cheek version of that could be really funny because it's so dark. We'll talk and catch up and see what happens."
Peeping Tom, about a murderer who films his victims as they're dying, was a critical and commercial failure on its initial release but has since attained cult status and been endorsed by Martin Scorsese.
Last November Peeping Tom was re-released in UK cinemas to mark its 50th anniversary.
Jones's latest movie Source Code opens in cinemas on April 1.
