Rob Pattinson 'won't star in Daredevil'

Contrary to recent rumours, Robert Pattinson will not be playing the lead role in David Slade's upcoming reboot of Daredevil.

Earlier this week a number of media outlets claimed that the Twilight: Eclipse director was hoping to reunite with Pattinson on the project by offering him the role of the Marvel Comics superhero.

However, a source close to Pattinson has now denied that there is any truth to the rumours.

"Don't know who dreams these stories up," the source told Gossip Cop.

Daredevil follows the blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who decides to become a masked vigilante after discovering that he has superhuman senses.

Ben Affleck originally played the character in the critically-panned 2003 film, which also spawned the poorly received spinoff Elektra.

Pattinson's new film Water for Elephants opens on April 22.
