A stuntman who was working on Mission: Impossible 3 is suing the production company for negligence after he received extremely bad burns in an accident.
Steven Wheately filed his lawsuit against Paramount Pictures and others that were allegedly responsible for the incident in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Wheatley had been working as a stuntman on the set, but was involved in a serious accident on June 6 2005. He claims that "suddenly and without prior warning" the explosives for the stunt detonated, engulfing him in a fireball that burned over 60% of his body.
Among other claims of negligence, Wheatley accuses the defendants of failing to ensure that fire extinguishers were readily available near enough to the stunt to be of use.
Representatives for Paramount and Cruise's C/W Prods. banner said it was their policy to decline comment on pending litigation.
