Speaking to Latino Review, the helmer denied that the actor will appear in the upcoming superhero movie as the Kryptonian villain General Zod.
"Yeah, Viggo is not going to be in the movie, let's say that right now," he said. "I can clear that up."
Elsewhere, Snyder dropped a hint regarding the film's supporting cast in a video interview with Jake Hamilton. "There could be a character in the movie that other people might refer to as Superman," he said, sparking rumours that Zod or Bizzaro could serve as the antagonist.
It was previously reported that Kevin Costner has joined the project as Superman's adoptive father Jonathan Kent. He joins lead actor Henry Cavill, and Diane Lane, who is portraying Martha Kent.
Superman: The Man Of Steel arrives in theatres in December 2012.
