The film, which will see Douglas in the title role, details the life of the late pianist, including his relationship with his young lover Scott Thornson, played by Damon.
"It's scripted that there's more than one [kiss]," he told E Online. "I never thought I would get to kiss Michael Douglas."
Douglas, who began preparing for the role last year, also joked about the intimate scenes, adding: "I just saw Matt... and I was teasing him. I was saying, 'Bring a lot of ChapStick, babe'."
Liberace director Steven Soderbergh previously confessed that he is bored of film and plans to retire after the project's release in 2013.
Asked if Soderbergh really means to leave the industry, Damon replied: "I've had a lot of conversations with him about it and he is serious about it. He says that's the last one he's going to do."
