Radnor, best known for his leading role as Ted Mosby in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, is also behind the screenplay and will be directing the movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will play a 35-year-old man struggling to accept his age and responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Olsen, the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, joins the project as a 19-year-old student who falls for Radnor's character.
The young actress recently drew critical praise for her turn in Martha Marcy May Marlene, which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
This will be the second time Radnor has signed on to direct after the comedy-drama Happythankyoumoreplease. The film was released earlier this month in US cinemas and starred Malin Akerman alongside the actor.
Last month, Radnor praised the current season of How I Met Your Mother, while the show was renewed by CBS for a further two seasons not long afterwards.
