Carlos star Edgar Ramirez is the latest actor rumoured to be in contention to star in Zack Snyder's Superman movie.

According to Latino Review, the Venezuelan actor, whose credits include Domino and The Bourne Ultimatum, is "being eyed for a villain role" in the comic book adaptation.

Viggo Mortensen was previously rumoured for the part of Superman's Kryptonian nemesis General Zod, although Snyder has since denied that the Lord of the Rings actor will appear.

Additionally, Rosamund Pike, Diane Kruger and Alice Eve have been linked to the movie's female lead role.

British actor Henry Cavill will fill the role of Superman in the blockbuster, thought to be titled Man of Steel, with Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent) and Diane Lane (Martha Kent) confirmed for supporting parts.

Superman, produced by Christopher Nolan and written by David Goyer, is due out in cinemas in December 2012.
