The Crossing Over star will play a con man in the Zero Gravity Prods thriller, reports Variety.
The movie will follow Liotta's character as he attempts to change his life following a near-death experience.
Dominic Purcell and Rhona Mitra are in talks to join the project.
Liotta will next be seen alongside Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks in the upcoming comedy The Details.
The actor is perhaps best known for playing mobster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning film Goodfellas. A Goodfellas prequel TV series is reportedly in the works.
