Russell Brand confirms 'Rock Of Ages' interest

Russell Brand has confirmed that he is interested in starring in musical Rock Of Ages.

The Get Him To The Greek actor, who has been linked to the role of nightclub owner Lonny, told Entertainment Weekly that he will join the cast if it doesn't interfere with him spending time with wife Katy Perry.

"I have to make sure I see me wife enough, but if we can work out the schedule, then yeah, I want to do it," Brand said at the premiere of his new animated movie Hop.

Asked about the assembled cast for director Adam Shankman's movie, Brand replied: "Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, rock music of the '80s - you can't go wrong. And I've already got the hair. I am way ahead of them on that account."

Cruise will play rock star Stacee Jaxx, Baldwin the owner of the titular 'Rock Of Ages' club Dennis Dupree and Paul Giamatti the manager of Jaxx's band.

Rock Of Ages, due to open on June 1, 2012, features '80s rock anthems from acts such as Bon Jovi, Poison and Twisted Sister.
