The forthcoming drama, which also stars Jeremy Piven and Mira Sorvino, sees the Private Practice star portraying a small-town lesbian artist navigating a complicated relationship with her partner.
"I loved the character, and the relationship between her and her partner was really interesting to me," she told The Advocate. "There's humour in how she's an artist and kind of gruff and no-nonsense. It's a really beautiful film."
Walsh, who has played lesbian roles in both Inside Out and Under The Tuscan Sun, went on to confess that she does not consider a character's sexuality when reading for a part.
"I'm just drawn to the role and the character and if it happens to be lesbian or transgender, whatever. It's the character and the relationship that really draws me to a project," she explained.
Walsh recently confessed that she feels like a loser because she doesn't have kids.
Angels Crest will open in theatres later this year.
