Deadline reports that Garner will put a younger spin on the character of Jane Marple, who has traditionally been portrayed as an elderly spinster who solves crimes in her spare time.
Mark Frost (Twin Peaks) will write the script for the revamped Marple adventure, while Garner and Juliana Janes are producing through their Vandalia Films company.
Miss Marple debuted in a 1927 issue of The Royal Magazine and featured in 12 of Christie's novels and several short story collections.
Actresses Margaret Rutherford, Angela Lansbury, Joan Hickson, Geraldine McEwan and Julia McKenzie have played Marple in her previous movie and TV incarnations.
Garner can next be seen starring opposite Russell Brand in the remake of Arthur. She recently appeared in the romantic ensemble Valentine's Day.
