John Travolta confirms 'Gotti' role

John Travolta has signed up to play John Gotti in the biopic of the legendary mafia family.

The From Paris with Love actor reportedly dined with Gotti Jr in January when he was in talks for the role.

Gotti: Three Generations centres on Gotti Jr's decision to leave the family business, as well as a series of trials in which he narrowly escaped prison, according to Variety

Gotti Jr is said to be keen to restore his reputation with the film, the site claims.

Nick Cassavetes is to direct the feature, which was rumoured to have James Franco attached to it in the early stages.

Travolta is also said to be circling two projects with his Face/Off co-star Nicolas Cage - an independent wartime thriller and an adaptation of a Frank De Felitta novel.
