The 22-year-old, who is rumoured to be dating her Abduction co-star Taylor Lautner, confirmed that she had been offered the starring role in Tarsem Singh's 3D film The Brothers Grimm: Snow White earlier this week.
Speaking to People, Collins gushed: "Snow White was my favourite fairy tale [growing up], and when I first read about the project, I was like, 'I have to get in on this'. It's such an iconic character."
The Blind Side actress, who is the daughter of legendary rocker Phil Collins, added that she is more interested in making memorable movies than hitting headlines.
She said: "I'm going to keep the private life private. I'm in this for the craft; I'm in it for the passion."
Commenting on Collins's recruitment to the project, Singh recalled: "I saw her eyebrows, and I said, 'You're it'. When I first saw her, I think she was trying for the part, but when I saw her I just said, 'She doesn't even have to try at all'."
Singh recently cast Social Network star Armie Hammer as Prince Alcott, while Julie Roberts earlier signed to play the Evil Queen.
The movie is due to hit cinemas on June 29, 2012, ahead of rival project Snow White & The Huntsman starring Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron.
