The actor was hired last year to replace Mel Gibson after the cast and crew objected to Gibson's involvement in the project.
Neeson filmed scenes as a tattoo artist in Thailand, but they were cut during the editing process when director Todd Phillips decided to do reshoots.
Neeson was unavailable to reshoot his part and was replaced with The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes.
Phillips told Variety: "We were in a complete time crunch so I called up Nick and asked if he would do the part.
"He came in and crushed it and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film. [I'm excited for everyone] to see the film. It turned out great."
The film is due to be released May 26 in the US and May 27 in the UK.
