Variety claims that Sony have offered Biel one of the film's two lead female parts, although negotiations for the part in question have yet to begin.
If cast, Biel will either play lead character Douglas Quaid's wife Lori, who is eventually discovered to be an undercover spy, or a resistance fighter called Melina who teams up with Quad.
In the 1990 original, Lori was played by Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone, while Law & Order: Los Angeles regular Rachel Ticotin played Melina.
Colin Farrell has already been cast as Douglas Quad, Arnold Schwarzenegger's role in the original, while Bryan Cranston will star as the film's main villain.
Previous reports have suggested that the likes of Eva Mendes, Kate Bosworth and Eva Green were all under consideration for the film's female roles.
