Jeff Buckley biopic still moving ahead

Welcome To The Rileys director Jake Scott has been tapped to direct a biopic about tragic singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley.

According to Deadline, Scott will direct a script from Ryan Jaffe, best known for the 2008 comedy The Rocker, and Buckley's own mother Mary Guibert will serve as the executive producer.

David Brown's biography Dream Brother: The Lives And Music Of Jeff and Tim Buckley has also been optioned as a resource for the film's production, and Brown himself has been brought on as a consultant.

There has been no word on who Scott has in mind to play Buckley himself. However, previous reports had pegged the likes of James Marsden and James Franco as interested in the role.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson also recently admitted that he was obsessed with portraying the late musician.

Scott is hoping to get the currently-untitled biopic into production by the end of the year.
