Speaking at the 2000 AD Mega-Stars panel, the artist said that he had seen some footage recently and that it was "very promising".
"It looks great," he said. "It's tough, it's hard, it's violent. I was worried that I would have to come here and say, 'Yeah, it's okay.' "
Watchmen writer Dave Gibbons praised Alex Garland's script, saying that the most important thing about a comic book movie is that it "has to be close to the source material".
Jock provided concept art for the film. His career began as an artist on 2000 AD, for which he has illustrated many 'Judge Dredd' stories.
The film stars Karl Urban as the eponymous lawman. Judge Dredd co-creator John Wagner has promised that the new movie will be far closer to the comic than the much-maligned 1995 film starring Sylvester Stallone.
The film is planned for release in spring 2012.
