John Travolta: 'Gotti family story interesting'

John Travolta has called the forthcoming biopic about the Gotti family the "most interesting untold story in this country".

Travolta has signed to play the lead role of late alleged mob boss John Gotti Sr in Gotti: Three Generations.

Speaking at a media conference in New York on Tuesday, Travolta said that he felt a "beautiful love" for the Gotti family after spending time with them recently, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nick Cassavetes is due to direct the Fiore Films project, while Joe Pesci is also attached to star in the movie as Angelo Ruggiero.

The film's producers announced that they are in talks with Lindsay Lohan, who was in attendance at the event, to play Gotti Sr's daughter Victoria.

Fiore Films head Marc Fiore called Lohan a "terrific actress".

Lohan was reportedly personally selected by Victoria to portray her in the project.
