Kate Beckinsale offered 'Total Recall' role

Kate Beckinsale has been offered a role in the Total Recall remake.

The British actress, who is currently filming vampire sequel Underworld 4: New Dawn, would play Lori, the wife of Colin Farrell's Douglas Quaid.

Sharon Stone portrayed the character in 1990's Arnold Schwarzenegger-led version of Philip K. Dick's short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.

Total Recall remake helmer Len Wiseman is married to Beckinsale and directed her in Underworld and Underworld: Evolution.

Recent repots emerged saying that Jessica Biel had been offered one of the lead female roles in the sci-fi action movie, however, Deadline has claimed that Eva Mendes and Rosario Dawson are "the serious contenders" for the second part.

Alongside Lori, the story is expected to feature a resistance fighter called Melina who teams up with Quaid. Kate Bosworth and Eva Green were allegedly under consideration for the Sony Pictures blockbuster.

Bryan Cranston will star as Total Recall's villain Vilos Cohaagen.
