It was reported last week that Lee's past accusations of "c**nery and buffoonery" in the Madea films prompted Perry to erupt at a recent press conference, saying: "I'm so sick of hearing about damn Spike Lee. Spike can go straight to hell!"
Perry has now told Extra host Mario Lopez that he will be no longer allow himself to be baited into responding to Lee's barbs and critiques.
"I was just pissed off at some things that Spike Lee said, you know, about a coon and a buffoon and those kinds of things, but I'm just gonna stay above it," he promised.
The For Coloured Girls director continued: "I'm going to keep doing what I do. I'm going to focus on the millions [who love my movies] and not the five [who] don't."
It was recently reported that Rebecca Romijn has joined Perry's next project Good Deeds.
His tenth feature film Madea's Big Happy Family is now playing in US cinemas.
