Pink has dropped out of a race to play Janis Joplin in a new film, describing the casting as a "circus".
The Stupid Girls singer was named alongside actresses Scarlett Johansson and Lindsay Lohan as being considered for the lead role in The Gospel According To Janis.
According to TeenHollywood.com, director Penelope Spheeris felt Pink was the first choice for the role.
However, Pink says she has now "dropped out of it." She explained: "They're trying to turn it into some circus pop contest - who's the 'it' girl who wants to play Janis? Janis was so much deeper than that."
