According to Vulture, Ratner is in talks with MGM Pictures about helming an adaptation of the Radical Publishing comic book series Hercules: The Thracian Wars.
The series, created by Steve Moore and Admira Wiljaya, follows the later years of the legendary hero as he trains the army of the Thracian King.
The project is being scripted by Ryan Condal, who also penned the script for Knowing, director Alex Proyas's upcoming adaptation of Milton's Paradise Lost.
Last year, Ratner was linked to another live-action adaptation of Hercules from The Expendables producer Avi Lerner. However, this project was reportedly dropped in favour of Ratner's new film Tower Heist.
Ratner's last film release was Rush Hour 3 back in 2007, but he is also well known for directing X-Men: The Last Stand and Red Dragon.
The director's latest movie Tower Heist is due for release in both the US and the UK on November 4.
