Ghostbusters star Bill Murray was officially cast as former US President Franklin D Roosevelt earlier this week after months
of speculation over his role in the film.
Deadline now claims that Linney will star opposite Murray as Roosevelt's sixth cousin and close advisor Daisy.
The film will focus on both the importance of King George VI's landmark US visit and Roosevelt's alleged affair with Daisy during this time.
Hyde Park on the Hudson is being helmed by Morning Glory director Robert Michell and boasts a script by Richard Nelson.
Linney is perhaps best known for her Golden Globe-winning role as Cathy Jamison on the acclaimed Showtime drama The Big C.
Further casting details for Hyde Park on the Hudson have yet to be announced.
