Fast & Furious 5 has topped the Australian box office for the third consecutive weekend.

The Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson-starring action sequel again holds off competition from Marvel's Thor to claim first place.

New releases Source Code and Something Borrowed push the top two close, generating more than $1 million in ticket sales each, but ultimately have to settle for third and fourth spot respectively.

Russell Brand's Arthur falls a place to number five, while Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil is a new entry at six.

Animated family movies Rio and Hop both experience sharp drops in business as they tumble down the chart to slots eight and nine.

The box office top ten in full (figures in Australian dollars):

1. (1) Fast & Furious 5 - $1,835,982
2. (2) Thor - $1,703,407
3. (-) Source Code - $1,520,716
4. (-) Something Borrowed - $1,409,513
5. (4) Arthur - $476,469
6. (-) Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil - $474,508
7. (6) Paul - $309,642
8. (3) Rio - $282,064
9. (5) Hop - $144,632
10. (8) Scream 4 - $130,162
