According to New York Magazine, Aronofsky is now considering the 15-year-old spec script by Jeff Welch as his next project. George Clooney is currently attached to play the lead role.

The Black Swan director had previously signed on to helm The Wolverine with Hugh Jackman, but backed out in mid-March.
Jackman recently insisted that The Wolverine will still be made in spite of Aronofsky's exit. The actor has revealed that he is bulking up for the role.
David Slade and Duncan Jones have been rumoured as contenders for the position left by the Black Swan director, though Jones has said his priority is to make films he has written himself.
