In recent weeks, John Travolta and Lindsay Lohan have joined the biopic of one of New York's most famous crime families, while Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Levinson has agreed to direct.
Gotti: Three Generations will tell the story of Gambino boss John Gotti's relationships with his two sons as he led the world's most infamous crime syndicate.
Executive producer Marc Fiore has now announced that Pacino has inked a deal to play alleged Gambino family underboss Aniello 'The Tall Guy' Dellacroce.
"Al Pacino is one of the finest actors of all time and will bring an unsurpassed level of reality and excitement to the film," Fiore said in an official statement.
Pacino notably played the fictional mafia boss Michael Corleone in director Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather trilogy and also starred in the 1983 remake of Scarface, the story of Cuban drug lord Tony Montana's fall from grace.
