Woody Harrelson grabs 'Hunger Games' role

The actor, who beat out previously rumoured contender John C Reilly, will take on the role of Haymitch Abernathy in the dystopian drama based on Suzanne Collins's trilogy of the same name, reveals The Hollywood Reporter.
Haymitch, a drunk, is the only winner of the Hunger Games from District 12 and serves as a mentor to current tributes nearly 20 years after his victory.
Dakota Hood and Jeremy Marinas will also join the project as District 10's tributes.
The ensemble cast already includes Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role of Katniss Everdeen, while Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson will play Gale Hawthorne and Peeta Melark respectively.
Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci and Paula Malcomson will also star in the picture.
The Hunger Games is currently scheduled for a March 22, 2012 release.
