Oscar winner Colin Firth and Adjustment Bureau star Emily Blunt have signed up for an untitled dark comedy.

The Dante Ariola-directed movie will see Firth play a man who fakes his own death and creates a new identity for himself. Blunt will assume the role of a woman who is also trying to escape her old life.

Both Firth and Blunt's characters forge new lives for themselves by breaking into vacant houses and assuming the homeowners' identities.

Production on the project will begin in the autumn.

Firth, who won an Academy Award earlier this year for his turn as the stammering King George VI in The King's Speech, has earlier this year signed up to play a vampire in the Dracula-inspired horror film Stoker. He will also be seen in the movie adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy alongside Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman.

Meanwhile, Emily Blunt, who provided her voice for the animated feature Gnomeo & Juliet, has expressed her excitement about starring in Rian Johnson's Looper with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis.
