The Age of Heroes actor, whose previous credits include Human Traffic, The Football Factory and Dead Man Running, insisted that he is "proud" of his career and being able to find regular work in the UK.
Dyer told Digital Spy: "I've had a good run. I've made over 40 films. I'd say a quarter of them are s**t, another quarter are all right and I'd say half of them have got something to say.
"They're very low-budget but I'm proud of most of the work I've done. I've had that rare thing where I've managed to stick just to making movies in England and that's quite a hard thing to achieve."
Dyer recently suggested that he would headbutt movie critic Mark Kermode should the two ever meet. Kermode has frequently mocked Dyer on his BBC Radio 5 Live review show.
