Bradley Cooper: 'We didn't try to top Hangover'

Bradley Cooper has said that he did not try to top The Hangover when making the sequel movie.

The actor told Heat that it would be a mistake for the team behind The Hangover: Part II to consciously try to top its predecessor.

Cooper said: "It's not about topping it, cos then you're f**ked. I don't think it's about trying to top it, I think it's about trying to figure out a great, compelling story that has a lot of potential for comedy.

"And you have to raise the stakes. That's what it was for the first one: there's a clock, we have to do something by a certain time, and there's danger. If we can do that, we're set."

Cooper said of the film's plot: "We're in Thailand this time. And it's going to be even crazier than Vegas. There is a monkey involved this time. No tiger, a monkey...

"We've got to lose Doug (Justin Bartha) again. We gotta lose him. He's got to go."
