Speaking at last weekend's MCM Expo in London, the scribes revealed that they would like to introduce the character Cable in the potential follow-up, The Coventry Telegraph reports.
"We would like to introduce Cable. He's such a cool character and we haven't seen him in any of the films yet," said the pair.
Avatar actor Stephen Lang previously expressed interest in portraying the character in a future X-Men project. Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld has also put the actor's name forward as the ideal candidate to play the mutant super soldier.
"Dear 20th Century Fox, please sign [Stephen] Lang as Cable and put him in your next X-Men film," the artist wrote on Twitter. "Lang's performance as Quaritch in Avatar was brilliant. Just attach a cyborg arm to him and presto! He's Cable. Perfect age too."
X-Men: First Class arrives in UK cinemas on June 1, and in the US two days later.
