Sam Worthington has committed to an untitled film centring on a war in space.

Warner Bros bought the rights based on a pitch by screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski, whose film Contraband is currently in pre-production.

According to Deadline, the script has not yet been written but the project has been described as a "grounded space war film".

Producer Basil Iwanyk is keeping details of the plot under wraps. He will be working with Worthington for a third time, after the two collaborated on Clash of the Titans.

The pair are in the middle of making the follow-up to the heroic mythical tale Wrath of the Titans.

Worthington recently admitted that he was surprised that a sequel was financed after it received a poor critical reception.
